Define the hazard
Review moving parts, ejection, trapping, hot surfaces, process emissions and foreseeable access.
Machine guarding solution
Machine-specific fixed, removable and access-controlled guards engineered around the hazard, task and production environment.
A bespoke machine guard is a physical protective system designed around a specific machine, hazard and access requirement. It may combine fixed panels, removable sections, viewing panels, interlocked doors and safety controls to reduce access to dangerous moving parts while preserving operation, cleaning and maintenance access.
Where it fits
A project-specific assessment confirms the final design, but bespoke machine guards is commonly used for:
Configuration
The physical form is selected after the hazard, safe distance, containment, hygiene and maintenance needs are understood.
Engineering method
Review moving parts, ejection, trapping, hot surfaces, process emissions and foreseeable access.
Map production, setting, cleaning, fault recovery and maintenance so the guard supports safe work rather than obstructing it.
Select fixed guarding, interlocking, guard locking or presence sensing according to the risk and stopping performance.
Provide drawings, component schedules, verification records and a clear handover pack appropriate to the project scope.
Project scope
Deliverables are confirmed in the quotation so responsibilities and interfaces remain clear.

Answers are general; the machine-specific assessment controls the final design.
Yes. Existing equipment can often be upgraded with a combination of fixed panels, interlocked access and control modifications. The design must be based on the machine condition, the tasks performed and a project-specific risk assessment.
There is no universal best material. Mesh gives ventilation and visibility, polycarbonate gives a clear barrier and containment, solid sheet can contain swarf or process material, and stainless steel suits hygienic or corrosive environments.
The objective is controlled access, not unnecessary obstruction. Doors, removable panels and maintenance zones are positioned around real operating and maintenance tasks.
