System intent

Designed around the task—not simply the available component.

Safety controls receive protective-device inputs, execute the intended logic and control outputs so the machine reaches and maintains the required safe condition.

We develop the guarding arrangement in the context of machine movement, product flow, operator behaviour, cleaning and foreseeable intervention. The scope is then defined clearly for detailed engineering and installation.

Key engineering decisions

What the design needs to resolve.

These points are reviewed together because a change to access, stopping or production flow can alter the required safeguarding approach.

  1. 01

    Safety functions

Define each function clearly: initiating event, safe state, reset, restart and fault response.

  2. 02

    Architecture

Select relay, configurable controller or safety PLC technology appropriate to complexity and diagnostics.

  3. 03

    Machine interface

Identify contactors, drives, pneumatic valves and other final elements that create the safe condition.

  4. 04

    Validation plan

Plan how logic, wiring, timing, faults and operating modes will be tested and recorded.

Application review

Design considerations.

  • Required performance level or SIL claim basis
  • Input devices and series connections
  • Drive safety functions and contactor monitoring
  • Mode selection, reset and restart interlocks
  • Diagnostics and maintenance access
  • Changes to existing PLC or electrical drawings

Typical project output

What can be included in the scope.

The precise deliverables are agreed before work proceeds and depend on whether the project covers mechanical guarding only or an integrated safety-system modification.

  • Safety-requirements definition
  • Hardware and logic design
  • Panel modification and installation
  • Input/output and fault testing
  • Stopping-time or response checks where relevant
  • Updated drawings and validation records
