Direct answerWhat it is and where it fits

Perimeter guarding creates a defined physical boundary around machinery or an automated process. A complete system normally includes posts, mesh or solid panels, access gates, fixings and—where entry creates risk—interlocks, guard locking or trapped-key arrangements.

Where it fits

Typical applications

A project-specific assessment confirms the final design, but perimeter guarding & safety fencing is commonly used for:

  • 01Automated assembly lines
  • 02Palletising and depalletising areas
  • 03Multi-machine production cells
  • 04Conveyor transfer zones
  • 05Warehousing and sortation equipment
  • 06Hazardous test or process areas

Configuration

Designed around the environment and access task.

The physical form is selected after the hazard, safe distance, containment, hygiene and maintenance needs are understood.

Black, yellow or project-specific powder-coated finishes

Standard and tall panel heights

Hinged, sliding and double access gates

Kick plates and solid lower sections

Mesh apertures selected for safety distance

Floor levelling and offset brackets

Engineering method

How we develop the solution.

01

Establish the boundary

Define the hazardous zone, material flow, operator routes, maintenance access and emergency escape.

02

Set safe distances

Position panels and choose mesh apertures with reference to reach prevention and the relevant project standard.

03

Engineer access

Use fixed panels where routine access is unnecessary and controlled gates where access is required.

04

Plan for change

Use modular sections and documented layouts so future extensions and modifications are manageable.

Project scope

Typical deliverables

Deliverables are confirmed in the quotation so responsibilities and interfaces remain clear.

Technical questions

Perimeter Guarding & Safety Fencing FAQs

Answers are general; the machine-specific assessment controls the final design.

How high should perimeter guarding be?

Height depends on the hazard, surrounding access, climbing opportunities and the relevant safety-distance assessment. It should not be selected by a single rule of thumb.

Can perimeter fencing include material openings?

Yes. Openings can be designed for conveyors, pallets or products, but reach-through and reach-over risks must be assessed and additional tunnels, flaps, sensing or distance may be needed.

Can you extend an existing fencing system?

Often yes. We first identify the existing panel format, post pitch, condition and safety implications, then design compatible additions or a controlled transition to a new system.
